6-DoF Arm
A 6 degree-of-freedom robotic arm designed to serve hot beverages. The system incorporates mechanical components, such as motors and gearboxes, electrical hardware, such as PCB’s and MCU’s, and software developed using ROS2 for control and automation.
Goals
The 6DoF Arms projects allows students to explore their passion for robotics on a multidisciplinary team. Students will learn the fundamentals of mechanical robotic arm design, PCB design and system integration, and robotic control using the ROS2 framework.
Ideas
Our inspiration comes from a variety of service robots being rolled out around the world such as Artly’s Barista Bot and Hestia Robotics Group’s Coffee Robot.
Objective
The objective of our project through our live demos is to increase the exposure of robotics service technologies to the general public and inspire students to get involved in robotics projects of their own.
Future
Future development of the arm focuses on improving mechanical precision, optimizing motion planning, and preparing the project for possible showcases and compensations.
